What is the Center for California Real Estate (CCRE)?

The Center for California Real Estate (CCRE) is an institute of the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.). Its mission is to advance knowledge via the production of new research in combination with varied partners, to spur innovative thinking about key issues facing California and the real estate industry, and to extend C.A.R.’s influence via intellectual engagement with different audiences, diverse stakeholders, and new external partners. 

Launched in 2015, the Center increasingly serves as a nexus for multi-disciplinary thinking aimed at solving some of the state’s most challenging issues. Bringing together key experts from a variety of fields, from academics to policy-makers to industry, the Center produces new knowledge and serves as a key resource about housing issues for all C.A.R. members, external entities, the media, and the public. 

CCRE places an emphasis on heightening intellectual engagement with tangible, resource-rich outcomes to enhance C.A.R.’s brand as a leading real estate organization. This includes - but is not  limited to - executive reports, whitepapers, briefs, roundtables, summits, forums, sponsored research, and the development of CCRE as a resource for industry news and relevant research from academics. CCRE provides C.A.R. members, the media, other industries, and the public with a rich repository of aggregated information about real estate, consumer trends, and the economy.

Real Estate Summit: Reclaiming California’s Housing Future

Housing in California continues to be one of the state’s most pressing challenges, presenting an ever-growing threat to the state’s economic vitality.

Drawing on its mission to advance housing industry knowledge and innovation, the Center for California Real Estate presented its third Real Estate Summit. Featuring leaders from real estate, finance, academia, public policy, and government agencies, the Summit served as a catalyst for meaningful solutions to the housing affordability crisis and inform the policy agenda in the year ahead.

The three panel sessions featured a broad-based agenda, covering such issues as housing supply and development at the local and regional levels, key housing ballot initiatives, demographic trends, homelessness, livability patterns, and policy challenges.
